The difference between spring taro and monstera

The difference in environment

Environment required for spring taro

Spring taro is a herbaceous plant that likes to grow in a secluded environment and is relatively tolerant to low temperatures. The optimal ambient temperature is 18-25℃, and it can withstand temperatures as low as 2℃ in cold winters. The best growing soil for spring taro is sandy soil rich in humus.

Monstera required environment

Monstera, also a perennial herb, prefers a humid and warm growing environment. It cannot withstand strong light and can tolerate shade but not dryness. To grow a pot of Monstera well, you need to provide it with a soil environment that is fertile, water-absorbing, loose and water-retaining. In addition, it is best if the soil is acidic and rich in leaf mold. The temperature is not as good as that of spring taro. Monstera cannot grow below five degrees Celsius.

The difference in form

The shape of spring taro

The stem of spring taro is very short. The leaves grow at the top of the stem and spread outward. Although they are dense, they are very neat. In addition, another characteristic of spring taro is that it has very slender and upright petioles. It can reach up to one meter in height, and its leaves are a translucent and quiet deep green.

The morphology of Monstera

The whole plant of Monstera is green in color, the plant is quite strong, and the surface is smooth and not rough. Their stems are very thick and can reach 6cm in circumference. The leaves are rounder and tougher than those of spring taro, and there are some round holes on the leaves for easy distinction.
