Its flower ball is surrounded by green leaves, which are particularly compact and lush. The leaves are between 6 cm and 15 cm long and between 4 cm and 11.5 cm wide.

The flowers are also very dense, with each petal about 1 cm in diameter. The leaves are similar to corn leaves, with the tail drooping downward, but the leaves are longer, about 60 cm in diameter and about 10 cm in width.

The flowering period of hydrangea is from June to August, while the flowering period of pompom is earlier, from May to June. Just when the pompom is about to end, hydrangea begins to bloom.
