How to Identify Brussels Sprouts

How to Identify Brussels Sprouts

1. Appearance

Brussels sprouts are biennial or perennial herbs, about 60-150 cm tall. The leaves in the lower part are larger, deeply pinnately lobed, up to about 40 cm long, and have petioles.

The lobes at the top are larger, with a rounded apex, an exocordate base, a wavy outer edge, and fine serrations. The top lobes are about 3-5 pairs and are obovate.

2. Leaves

The leaves of Brussels sprouts are oblong in the upper part and clasp the stem. All leaves are fleshy, whitish-rosy, and entire.

3. Stem

The stems of Brussels sprouts are upright and strong, up to about 1 meter tall, with very large leaf buds in all the axils of the stems, about 2-3 centimeters in diameter.
