The difference between Soapberry and Koelreuteria

1. Tree shape difference

Soapberry is a relatively tall tree that can grow to over 20 meters. Its bark is gray-brown or dark brown, and its twigs are green and hairless.

The height of the Koelreuteria paniculata is not as high as the former, and can generally only grow to 7-13m.

2. Difference of blades

The total length of the leaves and petioles of soapberry is 25-45cm. Its leaves have 5-8 pairs of leaflets, are papery, oblong, 7-15cm long and 2-5cm wide.

The leaves of Koelreuteria paniculata can reach 50 cm in length, with no petioles or very short petioles. Its leaves have 5-9 pairs of leaflets, which are papery, broadly ovate, 5-10cm long, 3-6cm wide, and slightly rounder than the leaflets of the former.
