How to identify Camptotheca acuminata

1.Tree trunk

Camptotheca acuminata is a tall deciduous tree that can grow up to more than 20 meters. The bark is gray, mottled and split on the surface of the trunk with shallow cracks. The branches are relatively small. New branches are purple-green, while perennial branches are mostly brown.

2. Leaves

The leaves of Camptotheca acuminata are alternate, papery, oval in shape, and relatively large, reaching 15-28 cm. The upper side of the leaves is bright green, with short hairs on the veins of new leaves. The underside of the leaves is light green, and the hairs are denser than on the front. The petiole is relatively long, reaching 2-3 cm.

3. Flowers

The inflorescence of Camptotheca acuminata is nearly spherical, with the upper half being female and the lower half being male, and the pedicel is a cylinder about 5 cm long. The petals are light green and the flowering period is from May to July.
