Can hyacinth be grown in soil?

1. Can it be grown in soil?

Of course hyacinths can be grown in soil. Compared with hydroponics, soil-grown hyacinths generally have a two-year flowering season, while hydroponics ones are difficult to bloom again after one year of flowering. However, in terms of daily maintenance, soil cultivation requires prevention of diseases and pests, as well as control of water and fertilizer management, which is more troublesome than hydroponics.

2. How to cultivate soil

1. Bulb selection: Choose bulbs that are plump and round. Press at the same time to see if it is firm. If it is relatively soft, it may be rotten inside and the survival rate will not be very high. After selecting the bulbs, they must be disinfected. Soak them in a carbendazim solution for 30 minutes, take them out and dry them before planting them in soil.

2. Potting and soil preparation: Suitable potting soil is the key to the good development of bulbs. Hyacinth grows best in loose and fertile sandy soil. You can mix garden soil and sandy soil and add a small amount of leaf mold.

3. Planting process: Put the soil into the flowerpot and dig a hole after the surface is leveled. Place the bulb in the hole and cover with soil, leaving the terminal buds, if any, above the soil surface. Place the potted plants in a well-ventilated area but avoid direct sunlight.

4. Note: Water less before germination, water again after the soil is dry, and water thoroughly at one time. The temperature should be kept at around 10-20℃. Too high or too low is not conducive to germination. Generally, roots will take shape in two weeks, and the light can be increased after another week.
