Potato cultivation methods and precautions

Potato cultivation methods and precautions

1. Maintenance methods

1. Soil: Potatoes like to grow in deep, breathable soil. In order to avoid root rot, the soil's drainage capacity must be good enough.

2. Temperature: The suitable temperature for its growth is around 15-25℃. If the temperature exceeds 39℃, it will grow slowly and cannot withstand the temperature of 3℃.

3. Light: It will grow rapidly with sufficient light conditions. If it is grown in a place with insufficient light or in a relatively shady place, it will grow too tall and its disease resistance will be greatly weakened.

4. Water: It likes a warm soil environment, and the soil must be kept moist during the growing period. When there are heavy rains in summer, pay attention to draining the accumulated water.

2. Breeding techniques

1. Pruning: We need to prune its branches and leaves appropriately, mainly pruning off yellow leaves, dry leaves, and leaves that are growing poorly.

2. Reproduction: Sowing can be carried out around March, and the soil must be turned before sowing. Then place its tuber in the soil and cover it with grass to keep it warm and moist. It will sprout in about a week.

3. Problem diagnosis and treatment

1. Ring rot: This is a disease that harms potatoes. It will cause its leaves to dry up and wilt. We must remove the diseased leaves in time and use virus-free pesticides and other agents for prevention and control in time.

2. Aphids: The pests will eat its leaves and fruits, so the eaten leaves and fruits should be removed in time, and sprayed with dichlorodiphenyltrichloroethane or phoxim.

IV. Other issues

1. Is it poisonous? It is non-toxic and can be eaten, but if it sprouts, it will become slightly toxic.

2. Can it be raised at home: It can be raised, and it can be grown in potted plants, but you must choose a location with good light conditions when planting.
