Difference Between Cornflower and Chamomile

1. Different plant types

Cornflower is an annual or biennial herb with a taller plant shape, about 30-70 cm in height, or even taller. Branches begin in the middle, and it is rare for a plant to be unbranched. The entire plant has white hairs on the stem, which look like thin, silky curls. It belongs to the genus Cornflower.

Chamomile is an annual or perennial herb with a relatively short plant, about 30-50 cm in height. Some short varieties are only about 20 cm in height. The entire plant is hairless, and the upper part of the stem has branches.

2. Different leaves

The leaves in the middle and above and below the cornflower are different. The leaves in the lower part are not divided, the leaves at the top are divided and relatively large, and the edges of the leaves in the middle part are entire and not serrated.

The leaves of chamomile are pinnately divided and relatively small. The lobes are in the shape of thin strips and have small pointed tips at the top.

3. Different flowers

The flower of cornflower is large and blooms from the center to the surrounding areas. The whole flower has a total of 7 layers of bracts, and the colors are rich and diverse, including white, red, purple, blue, etc.

Chamomile flowers are relatively small, with a cylindrical outer corolla that is yellow in color and a tongue-shaped inner corolla that is white in color.
