Cultivation methods and precautions of perennial cosmos

Cultivation methods and precautions of perennial cosmos

1. Soil

It does not have high soil requirements and is suitable for planting in full sunlight and well-drained sandy loam. When the plant grows to a height of 5-8cm, it can be transplanted into a planting pot with a diameter of 8-10cm or cultivated in the open air. Deeply turn the soil before transplanting. In some northern areas, the climate can be very dry, so it is necessary to replenish water in time.

2. Fertilization

It likes fertilizer, and thin fertilizer can be applied 10-15 days after potting, and then once every 15 days or so. Before planting, it is best to apply some organic fertilizer to the soil, apply slow-release fertilizer 2-3 times in combination with irrigation during the growing season, and apply phosphorus and potassium fertilizers 1-2 times during the flowering period. To prevent magnesium and iron deficiency, magnesium sulfide and iron chelate can be sprayed 1-2 times.

3. Pruning

There is no need to top the plant during maintenance, and it will form a round and plump plant shape with a relatively consistent flowering period. During the flowering period from August to the end of September, it is best to cut off some dry branches as soon as possible, so that the flowers can bloom longer.

4. Lighting

This plant likes sunlight, but avoid prolonged exposure to sunlight, as this will easily cause the leaves to dry and turn yellow, and shorten the flowering period. When planting, choose a sunny location.
