Petunia cultivation methods and precautions

Petunia cultivation methods and precautions

1. Pot soil selection

The flowerpot used for petunias is required to be larger, with a diameter of about 20-30 cm, and maintain good air permeability. Flowerpots with poor air permeability should not be used. Soil is also critical. It can only grow vigorously in suitable soil. You can choose nutritious sandy loam and put plastic foam or gravel at the bottom of the flowerpot.

2. Adequate sunshine

Only when there is more sunlight in the growing environment can it produce more nutrients and promote lush growth. It is a very light-loving plant and needs more sunlight in spring, autumn and winter. It can be grown on a balcony with good light, or directly outdoors. However, you must pay attention to sun protection in the summer to avoid direct sunlight that will burn the leaves and delicate flowers.

3. Stay warm

The suitable temperature for growth is around 15-25 degrees Celsius. The temperature in winter is cold, so it can be kept indoors to help it survive the winter safely.

4. Water in time

Petunia likes a humid growing environment and is afraid of drought, so you must pay attention to watering and keep the soil slightly moist. Do not allow water to accumulate and cause root rot. Be careful not to use alkaline water for watering. You can add a little ferrous sulfate to the water.

5. Fertilize regularly

Petunias like fertilizer, so base fertilizer needs to be added when planting in pots, and fertilizer should be applied every half a month during the growing period.

6. Notes

Petunia is a vine plant, so during its growth and maintenance, you must pay attention to pruning and remove branches that are not conducive to its growth.
