How to plant lotus root

Select pot and prepare soil

When planting lotus roots, choose a larger pot and prepare a pot with a diameter of more than 25 cm.

Do not use silt directly from rivers and ponds, as river and pond silt contains a large number of microorganisms, which can easily corrode lotus roots. After digging it up, sprinkle carbendazim in it for sterilization. After sterilization, apply some long-lasting green manure (rotted chicken and duck manure can also be used, but it also needs to be disinfected).

Planting lotus root

As shown on the left side of the picture, there is the tail of the lotus root with lotus root holes. On the right is the lotus root bud. The bud has grown very long and you can see a little bit of fibrous roots.

The lotus root tail is facing upwards , and the main thing is to control the lotus root tail and not let it enter water. The direction of the lotus root sprout does not need to be controlled, it will adjust its position by itself during the growth process.

Put the lotus root into the mud and wrap the whole lotus root with the mud . If the sprout is very short , you can bury it in the soil together , which will not affect the growth. If the buds are long, part of them can be exposed outside.

The lotus root tail must be exposed outside the mud , no need to water it , and placed in the sun for a few days.

When the topsoil is slightly dry, you can add some water. Completely merged with the mud. A small amount of nitrogen fertilizer and phosphorus and potassium fertilizer can be added.
