How to grow hyacinth in summer

Dormant period bulb cultivation

Hyacinths hibernate in summer, but they cannot be ignored. After the flowers fade, the above-ground part of the hyacinth will wither, but the underground part will continue to grow, so the hyacinth bulbs must be maintained after flowering.

To grow bulbs, you need to grow leaves first

To grow hyacinth bulbs big and strong, the leaves must be intact. Many flower lovers ignore the plants after they bloom and throw them aside. This is a wrong approach. They should fertilize and water them normally to ensure that the leaves wither later. The leaves will carry out photosynthesis and provide nutrients to the bulbs. Only then will the bulbs grow fully and the hope of flowering next year will be greater.

Hiding the ball after raising it

When summer comes and the temperature rises, when the temperature reaches above 25℃, the leaves will naturally wither, so just let them wither. It is estimated that after a growing period of one month, the bulbs will grow white, big and strong.

Hiding the ball method 1

When the leaves wither, you can hide the bulbs. Pull the hyacinth bulbs, wrap them directly in newspaper and place them in a cool and ventilated place, and then replant them when the temperature drops in autumn.

Hiding the ball method 2

It is not necessary to make the plant pilling. You can just put the plant and the pot in a cool, ventilated place.

Water appropriately, water when the soil is dry, and water thoroughly when you do. Watering during the summer dormancy period is mainly to ensure that the bulbs are strong, but do not water too much, which will cause new leaves to sprout prematurely and affect flowering.

Do not apply any fertilizer to bulbs in summer, as top dressing will only interfere with normal dormancy and will not be conducive to the recovery of the bulbs.

Precautions

So for flower lovers in the north, what should they do when the temperature is not very high in summer? In the summer when the temperature is not high, you can put it directly on the balcony at the back and don’t have to take care of anything. It will sprout on its own in late autumn, and then you can bring it into the house and take care of it normally.
