Purple cabbage planting time and method

Purple cabbage planting time and method

Purple cabbage planting time

Purple cabbage can be planted in early August in the northern region, and in the southern region, it can only be planted at the end of August. The planting time is the same as that of other ordinary cabbages, and a few days earlier or later will not have any impact.

In fact, whether purple cabbage can be planted mainly depends on the temperature at the planting time. If the temperature is too high, for example, around 30 degrees, it cannot be planted. It can be planted when the temperature is below 25 degrees.

Purple cabbage planting methods and key points

1. Seedling cultivation

For every acre of purple cabbage, about 50 grams of seeds are needed, and one plant should be planted every 8 cm. The temperature should be kept at around 20° during the day and around 12° at night.

2. Colonization

Generally, ridges are needed that are about 10 cm high and 30 cm wide, with ditches about 20 cm apart. The plants planted need to be about 20 cm apart. The length of the ridge is determined by the terrain. It can be broken in the middle and ditches can be dug horizontally. After planting, the night temperature needs to be kept at around 14°.

Purple cabbage planting precautions

1. Watering: When cultivating purple cabbage on land in autumn, it is necessary to control the humidity of the soil in the early stage. You can start watering when the plant is in the heart-forming stage. Adhere to the principle of frequent watering with shallow water to continuously supply water.

2. Fertilization: Fertilize the purple cabbage in time after the seedlings have grown. About 600 kilograms of fertilizer are needed for each acre of land. When the purple cabbage is in the heart-forming stage, about 80 kilograms of fertilizer are needed for one acre of land. After the fertilizer is dissolved, use it with water. During this period, you can spray fertilizer on the leaves to prevent yellowing of the leaves.
