How to grow roses in spring

How to grow roses in spring

1. Appropriate amount of fertilizer

Spring is the time when roses sprout. If green or red sprouts appear at this time, it is best to stop fertilizing. If you apply fertilizer, it may cause these shoots to dry out. However, if not enough base fertilizer is applied in winter, you can use some liquid fertilizer in moderation. The main type of fertilizer is nitrogen. Also pay attention to the time, it is best to apply fertilizer around seven in the morning.

2. Suitable lighting

Good light is also needed in the spring. If the light is not good and the rose is kept in a very dark place for a long time, it may grow too tall and its disease resistance will be reduced, making it prone to disease and root rot. If you grow it indoors, it is best to choose a place with appropriate and uniform light.

3. Appropriate amount of water

Roses grow fast in spring, so they have a certain demand for water, but watering should not be excessive at this time. If water accumulates, some diseases will easily occur. Diseases are particularly common in low temperature and high humidity environments. Water appropriately, just enough to keep the soil slightly moist.

4. Prevention and control of pests and diseases

Some diseases, pests and insect pests may occur in spring, such as "gray mold". If there are dead branches and rotten leaves in the pot, they will become the source of infection of this disease; there is also "powdery mildew", which is more common in the south; and there are also pests such as "red spiders". After discovery, use fungicides and insecticides in a timely manner and strictly follow the dosage.
