How to grow Chinese evergreen through leaf cuttings

Whole leaf cuttings

Needless to say, the best time for cuttings is when the temperature warms up in spring. Sunlight, temperature and water are all essential. Follow the method below to plant a pot.

When picking the leaves of the Chinese evergreen, choose those that are green and strong. Even if you don't have any at home, you can borrow a few from your friends. You will get one pot in return for each piece you borrow.

After picking, place the leaves in a cool place for a while. When the leaves wilt a little, put them directly into the pot. Then water it adequately and place it in a cool place.

Because of the different cutting environments, the cuttings will take root and sprout between February and March.

After rooting, move the leaves to the sun and new leaves will soon grow. When the new leaves grow to 2 to 3 cm, you can plant them in appropriate pots.

Half leaf cuttings

The leaves of Chinese evergreen may be damaged during the maintenance process, and these leaves will eventually turn yellow. When the plant dies, you can pick off the leaves and use them for new cuttings. This is also a way of recycling waste. If the cuttings survive, you make a profit, but if they don't, you don't lose anything. See how it works:

You can cut off the upper half of the leaves and insert them into moist soil, so that the roots will grow faster.

Or cut off the bottom half of the leaves, like this:

After rooting, you can plant it in a pot. New leaves will grow in March or April, forming a new plant.
