How to raise air plants for beginners

How to choose for beginners

Buy a single easy-to-grow variety

When purchasing, novices can search for information online and consult stores to find the air plant variety that suits them best. The growth habits of air plants are different, and novices have limited experience and often fail to take good care of them. Don't overestimate your abilities. Just choose one when purchasing, otherwise they will all become a pile of weeds.

Buying young plants

Many flower lovers grow air plants for the purpose of appreciating the flowers, after all, they only bloom once in their lifetime. But it depends on your own ability. It is easier to start from a small plant. The mature plant will bloom and die after a few years. If you don’t know how to divide the plant, you will have bought this pot of air plants in vain. So it is best to choose young plants.

How to raise a newbie

A common mistake that newbies tend to make is that they are shocked when they see players who have been growing air plants for years. They hope that they can do the same as the players and blindly take care of the air plants, forgetting about the plant's constitution and ending up suffering heavy damage. So newbies should pay attention to a few points

Don’t water too much

The origin of air plants is very different from the environment in our country, so flower lovers need to find a maintenance method that suits their own small environment. Ventilation, light, and water are the same, especially watering. Newbies should never water the air plant just because the surface of the plant is dry. This will easily cause the plant to suffer from other symptoms such as suffocation and cause casualties. Watering air plants before they show any obvious signs of growth is like feeding them poison.

Don't overfertilize

Newbies are eager to make air plants grow quickly or bloom, so they fertilize them at every turn, which causes the plants to die due to the malfunction. Therefore, even if you need to fertilize, don't be too diligent. Once every 1-2 months is enough.

Don't rush

After receiving their beloved air plants, novices must be mentally prepared for everything. The newly purchased air plants are not as beautiful as in the pictures, and they need to adapt to the environment. Therefore, it takes one month to one year from the time you buy it to its normal growth, depending on your small environment. During this period, don't be impatient and take some inappropriate measures. It is easy to kill the fish but difficult to keep them alive. After this period of time has passed, it becomes difficult for you to kill the air plants.
