How to propagate the fortune tree

The money tree is a common foliage potted plant in life. Many people also grow money trees at home. Cuttings are a common method of reproduction in daily life, but in addition to this, the money tree can also be reproduced through sowing and grafting, preferably in spring around April or May or autumn around September.

Common propagation methods of fortune tree

1. Propagation of Lucky Tree by Cutting

The money tree can be propagated by cuttings all year round as long as the temperature is suitable. Choose well-growing old branches on the plant, about 20 cm in length, cut off the leaves on the lower part, and only keep the two leaves on the upper part. Then insert the cuttings into the soil at a depth of 15 cm. Water thoroughly once and place in a ventilated and cool place.

2. Seeding and propagation of fortune tree

The money tree often blooms in spring and bears fruit in autumn. After taking out the seeds, they need to be sown immediately and cannot be kept for a long time. Sow the seeds on the surface of the potting soil, then cover them with 3 to 4 cm of thin soil, water them thoroughly, and keep the soil moist. Generally, they will germinate after 7 days.

3. Grafting and propagation of fortune tree

The variegated leaf variety of the fortune tree can be propagated by grafting. Choose two-year-old seedlings and use one-year-old strong branches that have already bloomed as scions. Cut off the leaves of the scion and retain two buds. Cut the rootstock 40 cm away from the ground and make a longitudinal cut in the middle of the section. Then insert the scion into the cut of the rootstock and put a film bag on the interface.
