Propagation by divisionThe most common method of propagation of spring orchids is division. Before division, you need to control the water and keep the soil in the pot moist. The purpose of doing this is to make it easier to remove the plant from the pot. By controlling the water for a certain period of time, the roots of the spring orchid will become very soft, which can prevent the roots of the spring orchid from being broken after removing it from the pot. When dividing the plants, choose a healthy mother plant and divide it into several clumps, usually 7 to 10 tubes per clump. When you have selected the mother plant, you can gently remove the orchid from the pot, place the mud ball sideways or sit it flat on the ground, remove the soil from the roots, and carefully trim the dead leaves and rotten roots with scissors. When operating, the scissors should cut horizontally, not vertically, to avoid damaging healthy roots, leaves and young shoots. After pruning, wash the pseudobulbs and the soil around the roots with clean water using a small broom. Do not use excessive force when brushing to avoid damaging the roots. After the plant is removed from the pot, do not plant it immediately. Disinfect it with 0% methyl thiophanate or 800 times diluted thiophanate-methyl, place it in a cool place to dry, wait for the roots to turn white, then cut them between the pseudoscales with scissors, apply a layer of wood ash to prevent rot, and then plant them in pots. Seed propagationThe seeds of spring orchid are very fine. Generally, we choose to buy the newly grown seeds of the current year. The method is to sow the seeds in pre-prepared culture soil in a sterile environment. However, before sowing, soak the seeds in hydrogen peroxide for 15 to 20 minutes and disinfect them. After planting, place the flower pot in an environment of 20~25℃ and control the humidity in an incubator at 60%~70%. The seeds will germinate one after another after 3 months. When the plant grows 2 to 3 leaflets, it can be transplanted into sterilized peat moss for cultivation. After the orchid seedlings grow strong, they can be transplanted into small pots. As for the shape of the pot, just be casual. |
