Mirror grass can be grown hydroponically, and some gardeners have successfully grown it, with very good ornamental effects.

Mirror grass is an evergreen herb of the genus Pilea in the Urticaceae family. The plant height can reach 35-40cm, with thick, fleshy, brown stems. The petiole is shield-shaped and grows slightly above the center of the leaf blade, shaped like a small mirror. It is densely grown on the stem. The petioles are of different lengths and extend in all directions. The whole plant looks plump and round.

Mirror grass prefers a warm, humid, shaded environment. It can also grow well in a well-lit room. It is a treasure among indoor small foliage plants. After it was introduced to Europe, it was loved by gardening enthusiasts in the UK, Germany, Norway and other countries.

Hydroponic plants are very popular because of their elegance, cleanliness, environmental protection, easy combination, and not restricted by regional water and soil quality. The hydroponic ornamental effect of mirror grass is very good, and it has a very good effect in garden landscaping and home greening design.

How to hydroponics

Materials required: a mirror grass, a small knife, a glass container, a 1000 times diluted carbendazim solution, NAA solution, a basin of clean water, a small amount of hydroponic nutrient solution, and Yuhua stones.

Hydroponic method: Carefully remove the cultivation medium of mirror grass to minimize damage to the root system. Wash it with clean water, trim the roots that are too long appropriately, and then soak the roots in 1000 times diluted carbendazim for 10 minutes.

Soak the washed and disinfected mirror grass roots in clean water for one hour, and then soak them in NAA solution for one hour.

Place the processed mirror grass in a glass container, add clean water into the container, and fix the mirror grass with rainflower stones. Keep the roots in a dark environment.

During the cultivation process, the temperature should not exceed 30℃, the air humidity should be greater than 80%, appropriate shade should be provided, and two-thirds of the roots should be immersed in water. Change the water twice a week. If you find that the growth condition is not good, you can add nutrient solution appropriately.
