How to make daffodils bloom during the Spring Festival

How to make daffodils bloom during the Spring Festival

Accurate breeding time

Most people will buy finished daffodils a few days before the Spring Festival, and the store will tell them that they will bloom in a week, but in fact they don't. Therefore, if you want the daffodils to bloom during the Spring Festival, you must start growing them at least one month in advance, starting with planting bulbs. The specific method is as follows:

First of all, it is best to choose large and plump three-year-old high-quality narcissus bulbs. Such narcissus bulbs are slightly flattened, with a large bottom, a clear root plate, and dense root points. First clean the soil and rotten parts on the surface of the bulbs, then soak them in clean water for 24 hours to remove the mucus on the surface of the bulbs. Place the bulb with its roots facing downward in a shallow pot and secure it with pebbles around it.

Appropriate light temperature

Sunlight is the most basic condition for the normal growth of daffodils. Even when the plants are in bloom, they still need sufficient light. In the early stages of daffodil cultivation, the flower pots should often be placed in the sun so that the daffodils will bloom large and beautiful flowers.

The best temperature for the growth of daffodil stalks is 30℃, and the best temperature for the growth of peduncles is 9℃. As long as the temperature meets the requirements, it will grow well. Therefore, controlling the temperature can also change the flowering period of daffodils.

Water quality is important

Narcissus is mainly an aquatic plant, and all its nutrients are obtained from air and water. The water quality for growing daffodils must be good, and the water must be changed frequently, usually once every 1 to 2 days. The impact of water quality on daffodil flowering is long-lasting, so it must be controlled well.

If you follow the above steps to grow daffodils in water, they will bloom after a month. If you want it to bloom earlier, you need to increase the light during the day and increase the temperature at night; if you want to delay the flowering time, you can put it in a cool place at 4°C when the flower buds crack. During the flowering period, move the water basin to a cool place with a temperature of 10-12℃ and provide sufficient light. The flowering period can last for as long as one month.
