Hydroponic management of Peperomia odorifera

Hydroponic management of Peperomia odorifera

Steps for hydroponic cultivation of peperomia

Preliminary preparation

A cultivated peperomia, a glass bottle, jar, glass beaker or other container, clean water (if it is tap water, it is best to let it settle for a day before use), small stones such as ceramsite, pebbles, perlite, nutrient solution

Carry out hydroponics

Gently take the prepared peperomia from the soil, carefully wash the soil on the roots with clean water, and remove the rotten roots, dead roots, blackened roots, etc.

Then fill the prepared container with clean water, put the pepper grass in it, and use expanded clay, pebbles, perlite and other small stones to fix the roots of the pepper grass.

Daily management of hydroponics of Peperomia crucifera

Water and fertilizer

Under normal circumstances, it is suitable to use foliage nutrient solution to add nutrients to the wrinkled peperomia. In spring and summer, add nutrient solution to foliage plants once every half month.

The fertilizer requirements of pepper grass are not high. It needs to be diluted 5-10 times before use, and then added appropriately according to the size of the hydroponic container. In addition, if you are not sure whether you have put too much, you can look at the leaves of the pepper grass. When there are too many nutrients, the leaves will turn green.

Water Quality

Once moss is found in the water where the pepper grass is grown, it must be cleaned up in time. When changing the water for the pepper grass, remember to clean the container as well to avoid the appearance of moss. Because moss will compete with the roots of the pepper grass for oxygen, in severe cases it may even cause the roots of the pepper grass to rot.

temperature

The suitable temperature for the growth of wrinkled peperomia is: 16℃~24℃ from April to September; 13℃~18℃ from September to April of the following year. The lowest temperature in winter is above 10℃. Room temperature above 30℃ or below 10℃ is very unfavorable for the growth of Peperomia japonica.

illumination

The wrinkled peperomia should be placed in a semi-shaded environment so that it can grow healthily. In the summer, it must not be exposed to the scorching sun. However, you cannot place the wrinkled peperomia in a very dark and hidden place, as that will cause the leaves of the wrinkled peperomia to lose their luster.
