How to fertilize Magnolia

How to fertilize Magnolia

Plant fertilizer requirements

This plant likes fertilizer very much. Only when fertilizer can provide sufficient nutrients can its flowers bloom more and better, and the fragrance can spread farther. If fertilization is not appropriate, it may cause the branches and leaves to grow wildly but the flowers to not bloom well. So, we must be cautious.

Specific methods

From February to March, before new buds grow out, it is better to choose cake fertilizer (well-rotted) to apply.

When it comes to the flowering period, it is time to change to another type of fertilizer. At this time, animal manure is a better choice, as it is natural and pollution-free, and it will also be more convenient if you have pets at home. Of course, you can also choose other fermented liquid fertilizers, add water and apply them, and the frequency should be controlled to once every three or four days.

We need to move it indoors in winter. We can stop fertilizing about two weeks before the winter, or when it is cooler in autumn.

Issues that should be noted

In late spring, you need to apply relatively light fertilizers, and then gradually increase the concentration.

Note that when we apply fertilizer in the summer, it is best to do it in the morning and evening. In addition, it is not suitable to apply fertilizer during the hot and humid summer. Don't water before fertilizing. It's better to keep the soil in the pot dry. Plants naturally consume more nutrients during flowering, so it is necessary to supplement fertilizer in time. Moreover, if an appropriate amount of (FeSO4) can be added when fertilizing, the effect will be better and the leaves will be greener.
