Whitefish, also known as red carp, is one of the high-quality economic fish in the Yangtze River Basin. It is currently artificially cultivated in Zhejiang, Jiangsu, Shanghai, Sichuan, Hunan, Guangdong and other regions. Here are some methods and techniques for breeding whitefish . 1. Pond conditions The area of the fish breeding pond is generally 1.5~3 acres, and the water depth is 1315 meters. 15 to 20 days before stocking, drain the pond water, level the pond, and use 75/80 kg of quicklime per acre for dry pond cleaning and disinfection. 2. Pond cleaning method After the quicklime is made into a slurry, it is poured all over the pond without waiting for it to cool down and exposed to the sun for several days. One week before stocking the fish, inject new water and, depending on the pond bottom conditions, add 100-150 kg of fermented organic fertilizer per acre to cultivate bait organisms. 3. Water quality conditions The breeding area must have sufficient water supply, fresh water quality, pH value of 7.0~8.0, rich dissolved oxygen and pollution-free water. When the water enters the breeding pond, it should be filtered with 60~80 mesh silk screen to prevent harmful organisms or wild fish from entering. 4. Fish stocking Select summer flower fish species with uniform size and strong vitality for stocking. The stocking size is generally above 25-3 cm, and the stocking density is 6,000 to 8,000 fish per mu. 5. Water quality management The water transparency for breeding white fish should be around 30 cm, and more fresh water should be added during the hot season. Since the stocking density is not high, hypoxia generally does not occur when the weather is normal, but it is still necessary to turn on the aerator as much as possible to ensure sufficient dissolved oxygen, improve the digestibility and utilization of feed , and reduce feed costs. 6. Feeding Good feed can increase the growth rate of whitefish. 10 to 15 days before the summer flower fish are put into the pond, the breeding management mainly focuses on improving the water quality, with the aim of cultivating a large number of natural bait organisms for the red carp to eat. When they grow to more than 4 to 5 cm, they are domesticated and fed with artificial feed. The varieties of artificial feed include single silkworm pupa powder and powdered compound feed or puffed granular compound feed made of fish meal, silkworm pupa powder, soybean meal, etc. When feeding, initially scatter the feed on the water surface around the pond, and then gradually switch to fixed-point feeding, feeding 3 to 4 times a day. The amount of feed fed is mainly adjusted according to weather changes, fish eating conditions, etc. 7. Fish disease prevention and control During the breeding process, disease prevention and treatment work should be carried out in a timely manner, and the principle of "prevention first, early treatment of disease, and combination of prevention and treatment" should be adhered to. Regularly use microbial preparations to regulate water quality and improve the water environment. During August and September, when fish diseases are prevalent, spray the entire pond with 0.1-0.2 ml/L of dibromohydantoin or 0.2-0.3 ml/L of bromochlorohydantoin regularly every 15-20 days.
