How to propagate cosmos

Seed propagation of cosmos

Sowing is a common method of reproduction for cosmos. When sowing and propagating, it is generally carried out between November and March. In places with warmer climates, sowing can be carried out all year round. When sowing, you can use direct sowing or indoor pot sowing.

The seeds of cosmos can be harvested separately and sown directly, or loose soil can be used as a seedbed for sowing. After the sowing medium has been disinfected, the seeds can be sown and lightly covered with vermiculite to ensure that the germination temperature is between 22℃ and 24℃. Generally, it will germinate in a week. After sowing, it can be transplanted into pots after growing for about a month.

In addition, you can also broadcast it yourself. Marigold has strong vitality. If it is not harvested in time, the seeds will fall to the ground. Under suitable temperature and humidity conditions, it can grow on its own.

Cutting propagation of cosmos

In addition to sowing and propagation, cosmos can also be propagated by cuttings.

The time for cosmos cuttings is mainly in summer and autumn, with June to August being the best. Generally, when taking cuttings, you can take down the tender branches of cosmos, which are about 10 cm in length. You can cut them into flowerpots or directly insert them. After cuttings, shade is needed, the survival rate is high, and it can take shape quickly.

Generally, cosmos planted in cuttings in summer can bloom between August and December.
