Paulownia propagation method

Paulownia sowing and seedling raising

The sowing and seedling raising of Paulownia is generally carried out in February and March. The seeds need to be germinated and disinfected before sowing. Soak the seeds in warm water at about 35-40℃ for about half an hour. After cooling, soak them in warm water at about 15-25℃ for another 12-14 hours. After taking out the seeds, rinse them 1-2 times a day with water at about 35℃ without turning them over. Generally, the seeds can be sown after they germinate after 3-5 days. Alternatively, use wet sand to germinate, which takes about 10-15 days. Water regularly and maintain the relative humidity between 90-95%. The row sowing method is adopted for sowing and seedling raising. After sowing, it is necessary to burn the soil with fine fire or cover it with a thin layer of grain ash, and compact it appropriately, and finally cover it with straw.

Root-burying seedling cultivation of Paulownia

Root collection can be carried out from leaf fall to germination. It is usually carried out from mid-February to early March. The seed roots left after the 1-2 year old seedlings are planted are collected, or the 2-3 cm thick lateral roots are selected from the healthy trees. The roots are then cut into root segments with a length of about 15-20 cm. The large heads are cut flat, and the small heads are cut obliquely, and then dried for 2-3 days. The roots can be buried directly or obliquely, but direct burial is preferred. The upper end should not be exposed or slightly exposed above the ground to prevent burial. Reasonable spacing should be controlled. The appropriate plant spacing is about 0.8-1 meter and the row spacing is about 1 meter. In addition, you can also select healthy annual branches that are about 20 cm thick, and then cut them into cuttings about 20 cm in length for cutting seedling cultivation.
