Cultivation methods and precautions of red banana

How to cultivate red banana

Light and temperature

Red banana likes a warm environment and requires sufficient light. It can be partially shaded and is not very cold-resistant. The red banana needs a suitable temperature during its growth period, which should be maintained at 24℃-30℃. It should generally not exceed 35℃ in summer. It can continue to bloom in winter if the temperature is not lower than 15℃, but if the temperature is 4℃, it is prone to frost damage. The environment requires sufficient sunlight. In spring and autumn, sufficient sunlight is conducive to the growth of leaves and the development of flowers. Be careful not to shade for a long time, which will affect flowering. In summer, it is necessary to avoid long-term exposure to strong sunlight, which will burn the leaves and requires appropriate shading.

Pot soil selection

To grow red banana, you can choose a large-diameter clay pot. The soil needs to be loose, fertile, humus-rich and well-drained acidic soil. It can be made by mixing garden soil, peat soil and coarse sand in a certain proportion.

Watering and fertilizing

During the growing season, the red banana plant requires the soil in the pot to remain moist and needs to be watered frequently. In times of drought, it also needs to be sprayed frequently to maintain a certain air humidity, but water accumulation must be avoided.

The growth of red banana requires sufficient nutrient support, which requires reasonable fertilization. Apply sufficient base fertilizer during cultivation, and then apply fertilizer once a month during the growing period, using decomposed and diluted fertilizer water. Before the red banana blooms, be sure to apply some phosphorus and potassium fertilizers to promote flowering.

Precautions for the cultivation of red banana

prune

The red banana has lush flowers and leaves and grows relatively quickly. It needs to trim yellow leaves, old leaves and broken leaves during the growing season. After flowering, the dead branches should be cut off to facilitate the sprouting of new branches and leaves, and the plant should be kept ventilated and light-permeable to allow it to grow well.

Repotting

As the red banana grows, it needs to be repotted so that it can grow well. Generally, the red banana plant is repotted once a year.

Pests and diseases

During the growth process of red banana, it may suffer from diseases such as anthracnose and leaf blight, as well as pests such as scale insects, whiteflies and banana budworms.
