Spinach Growing Conditions

1. Temperature conditions

Spinach is a crop with strong cold resistance. Its seeds can germinate at 4°C and the most suitable growth temperature is 15-20°C. The above-ground part can withstand short-term sub-zero temperatures.

2. Lighting requirements

Spinach is not sensitive to day length, but full sun helps promote growth. Under long-day conditions, spinach may bolt and flower.

3. Water requirements

Spinach has larger leaves and requires more water. The soil should be kept moist, as drought conditions will affect the growth and quality of spinach.

4. Soil conditions

Spinach adapts to a variety of soil types, but loose, well-drained, slightly acidic to neutral soil (pH 6.5-7.5) rich in organic matter is most suitable.

5. Fertilizer requirements

Spinach likes fertilizer, so before planting, sufficient base fertilizer should be applied, mainly organic fertilizer , and nitrogen fertilizer and appropriate amounts of phosphorus and potassium fertilizers should be applied in time during the growth period.

In general, when planting spinach, you should choose a plot with fertile soil and good drainage. Before sowing, the seeds can be soaked to speed up germination.
