Cultivation methods and precautions of ice berry

Cultivation methods and precautions of ice berry

1. Maintenance methods

1. Soil: When planting ice berries, you should try to use soil that is breathable and well-drained, and also needs to have sufficient nutrients. It can be made by mixing peat soil with perlite, or adding a small amount of bone meal to increase the nutrient content of the soil.

2. Watering: It is a succulent plant and has a strong water storage capacity, so don’t water it too frequently. Once every half a month is enough. Just be careful not to allow water to accumulate.

3. Sunlight: It likes a growing environment with plenty of sunlight. If it grows too tall, it must be because the light in the maintenance environment is too weak, and it needs to be moved to a location with better lighting.

4. Temperature: It likes warm and high temperature weather and has poor cold resistance. It can be maintained normally outdoors in spring, summer and autumn. In winter, it needs to be moved indoors to an environment not lower than 0℃ so that it can safely spend the winter.

2. Breeding techniques

1. Reproduction: The most commonly used method of propagation is leaf cuttings. It is best to choose thicker leaves, place them on moist soil, and then keep them in a ventilated and cool place for a few days for them to take root.

2. Repotting: Its growth rate is relatively fast. After it grows to a certain size, it needs to be repotted in a slightly larger pot. You need to be careful with its fibrous roots when repotting. After repotting, just place it in a ventilated location for a few days.

3. Problem diagnosis and treatment

1. Pests: The pests it encounters are usually loopers, which will eat the leaves of the plant and eat a lot. When discovered, it must be caught in time and sprayed with corresponding pesticides.

2. Disease: The most common disease is black rot, which is usually caused by excessive watering and high ambient temperature. If you find that the leaves are turning black, you should cut them off in time to save them.

IV. Other issues

1. Can it be grown indoors? It is not recommended to grow iceberry indoors. It has a large demand for light, which cannot be met well indoors and its growth state will also be affected.

2. Whether it can be exposed to rain: If it is grown outdoors, it will inevitably be exposed to rain, but care should be taken to avoid heavy rain for a long time to avoid water accumulation.
