How to propagate glass jade

How to propagate glass jade

There are two ways to propagate glass jade: one is the cutting propagation method, and the other is the propagation method of its own seeds.

Cutting propagation method

Select cuttings with more than three nodes from the glass jade plant and plant them in a flowerpot. Water them immediately after cuttings, but make sure that no water accumulates. Use diluted thiophanate-methyl to spray every half an hour, and each time for 10 minutes to keep the leaves moist. New roots can be grown in less than half a month, and the survival rate of new roots can reach over 98%. When the glass jade grows to about 10 cm in length, remove the tips of 2 to 3 nodes. This will allow new branches to grow again at each node.

Seed propagation method

The seeds of glass jade are very small and can be stored for up to 3 years. Sow seeds and plant in early April. The best spacing between seeds is 15cm*30cm. The planting depth is about 1 cm. Dig holes before sowing, water each hole sufficiently, and sow the seeds after the water has seeped into the soil. After sowing about 4 seeds in each hole, cover it with soil. New seedlings will grow in about 5 days. During this period, the soil should be kept moist, but not waterlogged. The probability of producing new seedlings can reach over 79.9%. Keep the soil moist and do not water it after it is completely dry. When watering, avoid washing the seeds to the soil surface and place them in a semi-shaded place.

If you want to transplant the newly grown seedlings into other pots, you must wait until the new seedlings grow to 10cm before transplanting.
