When is the right time to sow red beans?

Red bean sowing time

Red beans can be sown in spring and summer. The spring sowing time is mid-to-late April, when the average daily temperature is stable at above 14 degrees. The summer sowing time is usually from late May to early June. The time should not be too late to avoid high temperatures affecting seed germination.

Red bean sowing method

1. In the process of planting red beans, first select high-quality seeds with high germination rate, fullness and maturity, remove borers and shriveled beans, soak them in clean water for about 14 to 16 hours, then soak them in warm water to kill the bacteria on the surface, and then place them in an environment of 25 degrees to germinate. Water them every day and they will germinate in about 5-7 days.

2. Prepare the soil, make small holes on it at intervals of 30 cm, sprinkle three seeds in each hole, and cover it with a layer of soil. You can also cultivate the seeds on the seedbed, and transplant them at a certain distance when the height of the seedlings reaches 10 cm.

Red beans ripe harvest

The flowering period of red beans is from June to July, and the fruiting period is from July to August. The young pods can be harvested 11 days after flowering, and generally they can be harvested once every 3-4 days. The main thing is not to damage the young flower buds during harvesting, so as not to lose the commercial value. They must be harvested in time to ensure commercial quality. The yield of red beans depends on the planting density, generally one acre will produce about two kilograms.
