How to Care for Daffodils

Temperature control

Daffodils are suitable for growing in cool places. The most suitable temperature for their growth is around 10 degrees. After they bloom, there are no other requirements. The duration of daffodil flowering is closely related to temperature. Generally, the lower the temperature, the longer the flowering period. When the indoor temperature is above 20 degrees, the daffodils will bloom for a week. When it is between 15 and 20 degrees, the flowering period is about 10 days. In the most suitable growth environment of 10 degrees, it can bloom for two or three weeks.

The daffodils we grow are usually placed in a place with sufficient light and ventilation before they bloom, while also avoiding indoor heat sources. When you see the buds are about to bloom, move the daffodils to a cool place so that the flowers can bloom for a long time.

Proper fertilization

Reasonable fertilization can also ensure the normal growth of daffodils. Daffodils need certain nutrients to bloom, so applying certain liquid fertilizers can promote the opening of flower buds. Daffodils generally enter a dormant state in the hot summer because they cannot maintain a low temperature environment suitable for their growth. Therefore, you should change the water frequently and reduce fertilization at this time.

Refrigeration

After the daffodils have bloomed buds, you can take out the flower balls, put them in bags, and store them in the refrigerator. After a period of time, the flower balls can still grow and bloom. This method can effectively help daffodils to hibernate safely, preventing them from blooming in the hot summer and affecting their growth, and it has a good effect on dormancy.
