Disease and Pest Control of Elsholtzia ciliata

1. Elsholtzia rust

It is a relatively easy type of rust in plants. It is caused by rust fungi and mainly harms the leaves, stems and fruits of the plants. But generally it will only cause local infection. The damaged area will accumulate spores and slowly produce small blisters or blister-like shapes of different colors. Some will also cause rough bark, bushy branches, etc. on the branches, or cause the leaves to turn yellow and fall off. It is a very troublesome disease.

If the woodruff is unfortunately infected, it will cause local damage to the leaves. The lesions will appear round or oval at first, and some light yellow summer spores will be produced on them, which will eventually be exposed outside and appear powdery. Then the lesions have turned into other colors and will become winter spore piles.

Prevention and control methods: To prevent and control it effectively, we must first keep the field clean. We can collect the diseased and damaged parts and then put them together and burn them. In addition, you can also use some medicines for protection. In the early stage of the disease, spray some medicines in time to prevent them from spreading.

2. Big Bag Moth

This is a kind of pest that exists on many plants. It mainly eats some leaves, twigs and young fruits in the larval stage. When there are a large number of them, they can eat all the leaves of the plant, so it is a very scary pest. It usually spends the winter in the form of an old larva, hiding in a bag and hanging on the branches, waiting to become active the next year.

When the woodruff is attacked, its leaves will also be seriously damaged.

Prevention and control methods: First, we can use black light to lure and kill them, which is very effective. Then when they are still larvae, you can use some medicines to spray for prevention and control. When spraying, be sure to spray on the crown of the plant. In addition, if the number is not large, you can also pick them off manually.
