How to cultivate miniature coconut

The miniature coconut palm is an evergreen shrub of the genus Palm in the family Arecaceae. It is mainly propagated by sowing and division. It likes a warm, humid, semi-shady environment. The appropriate growth temperature is 20-30℃. It enters a dormant period at 13℃. The lowest temperature it can tolerate in winter is 3℃.

It is best to use fertile, well-drained soil to cultivate miniature coconut palms, otherwise the roots will easily rot. The temperature of the maintenance environment should be maintained at 18-24 degrees, which is conducive to growth, and should not be lower than 10 degrees in winter.

Watering method

The miniature coconut palm has poor drought tolerance and needs sufficient water during its growth stage. In winter, if the temperature drops below 13 degrees, it will go dormant, so it is necessary to control watering.

Fertilization method

From May to October, the miniature coconut palm has certain requirements for fertilizer, but the frequency of fertilization is not too often, generally once every half a month is sufficient.

Pruning methods

When caring for the miniature coconut palm, it is necessary to prune it regularly. You can cut it short in the spring. During the pruning process, you can pick the heart of the useless buds.

Precautions for breeding miniature coconuts

During the growth period of the miniature coconut palm, it must be placed in a sunny place for maintenance, but strong light can also cause damage, so it is best to avoid exposure to the sun.

In addition, during the breeding period, you should pay attention to changing the potting soil. When the root system grows fast, you should change the pot in time. Not only should you replace it with a slightly larger pot, but you should also cut off 1/3 of the roots.
