How to breed jackfruit

How to propagate jackfruit:

Bud grafting method, seed propagation method, and high-altitude layering propagation method. But now people mainly use seeds for reproduction.

Seed propagation method:

Choose fruits that are growing normally, fully mature and free of any disease for seed screening. Rinse the selected seeds with clean water first, then place them evenly on the soil. Sprinkle a layer of fine sand on the seeds, about 1 cm to 2 cm thick, and cover them with straw. Water them 1 to 2 times a day. This will encourage them to sprout. Small buds will grow in about 7 days. Wait until 1 to 2 leaves grow on the small buds before transplanting. The roots of seedlings are very developed, but there are very few lateral roots, so it is not conducive to transplantation and the survival rate is very low. To avoid this shortcoming, the roots should be cut short during transplantation, and then dipped slightly in the rooting agent before transplanting. This will allow it to produce more lateral roots and effectively improve the survival rate.

Bud grafting method:

When the seedlings of the plant grow to 1 cm in height, they can be grafted. Select relatively sturdy, high-quality, sunny and one-year-old branches for scion grafting. When grafting, make sure the storage environment is humid. The best way is to cut the branches and graft directly. In Hainan's environment, it can be done at any time of the year, but the highest survival rate is from April to October.
