How to propagate carrots

How to propagate carrots

Soil selection

First of all, you need to choose good land, preferably loose soil with good drainage, and use sandy loam or loam with a high humus content. It would be even better if you have grown beans etc before.

Land preparation

The land in the yard should be tilled in time, and the land should be plowed after the crops planted previously are harvested. A general depth of 25 to 30 cm is appropriate. And before preparing the land, we also need to use an appropriate amount of high-quality decomposed organic fertilizer and mix it evenly into the soil.

Soak in water

Before sowing, the seeds must be processed first, usually by drying them in the sun for a day or two and then soaking them in warm water for three hours. After processing, wrap the seeds in moist and clean gauze and start germinating. It is recommended to keep the temperature between 20 and 25 degrees. Spray water frequently to keep the seeds in a relatively moist state. Wait until the seeds are basically white and then you can sow them.

temperature

When sowing, you should first check the temperature. Generally, you can sow when the average temperature is above 13 degrees. Generally, seeds can be sown in mid-to-early May. If they are sown too early, the bolting rate will be relatively high. If it is too late, there will not be enough time to grow and the quality will decline.

Shade

You need to dig trenches at equal distances in the garden soil. After evenly sowing the seeds, you need to cover them with a 1.5 cm layer of fine soil and then compact the soil with your feet. After that, you need to cover the bed with a layer of wheat straw, or you can plant cabbage together with carrots to help provide shade.
