How to propagate the orchid

Division

Time of choice

Division needs to be carried out during the period when orchids grow best, so it is basically chosen in spring or autumn. This is mainly because these two time periods are neither too cold nor too hot, and the plants are in a very comfortable state, so the growth is also relatively good. Orchids can be divided every three years, because at this time the plants generally have strong roots and the pseudobulbs grow densely, so the success rate of division is very high.

Specific steps

Make sure each clump has 5 pseudobulbs connected together. Before operation, be sure to reduce the humidity of the soil, so water less. Before potting, place broken tiles and coarse stones at the bottom of the pot. This will prevent the fine soil on top from falling off and allow the water to drain out from below. After everything is laid, water it sufficiently at one time so that the substrate and roots can combine well.

sowing

Preparation before sowing

The seeds of this flower are very small and have poor water absorption ability, so they need to be cultured on artificial culture medium for a period of time before they can germinate normally. It is best to choose fruits that have not cracked yet, sterilize them first, then rinse them repeatedly with sterile water, and finally place them in a relatively dark environment and slowly cultivate them at a temperature maintained at 25°C. However, this method requires a long time to prepare, perhaps half a year or even a year, so only friends who can meet the requirements can use this method.

Maintenance after sowing

The most difficult time for this plant is summer, so the location must have facilities to block light. In winter, if the weather is better, the temperature can be maintained at 15°C, but the temperature can be slightly lower at night, above 5°C.
