How to propagate lucky grass

How to propagate lucky grass

1. Time Selection

Generally speaking, we choose to do this in March, which is just before it sprouts.

2. Choice of Matrix

We can mix leaf mold, garden soil and sand together, and control the ratio at two to one to one.

3. Material selection

The selection criteria are relatively easy to understand, that is, those plants that are robust and not attacked by pests and diseases are suitable for use as mother plants.

4. Specific process

First, remove the mother plant from the pot and shake off any excess soil. Observe the distribution of its roots, and use a sharp knife to divide them into several parts as evenly as possible through the gaps. Each mother plant should not be divided into too many parts, generally two to three plants will be enough. Note that it is best if each part has similar branches, leaves, and roots. Then, you need to prune them separately and cut off the rotten roots and leaves. After pruning, we need to disinfect them with substances such as sulfur powder, so that the survival rate will be higher. After that, we can plant them into the matrix separately.

5. Post-management

This step is also very important and is related to the survival rate of the plantlets. The first is the issue of light, because this plant has a rather demanding requirement for sunlight. Too much sunlight will cause the leaves of the plant to turn yellow, and too much shade will slow its growth rate, so semi-shaded places are relatively more suitable for it. In addition, if the air is too dry, the tips of its leaves will easily become dry, so be sure to keep the soil moist and spray some water into the air when necessary. Also, once new leaves have grown, you can fertilize once a month.
