How to Keep Primroses Blooming

How to Keep Primroses Blooming

1. Proper subplanting and transplanting

If you grow the primrose yourself at home instead of buying it ready-made, you need to take good care of it to keep it blooming. When it is in the seedling stage, when about 2 to 3 leaves have grown out, we should plant it in small pots in time.

About a month later, its seedlings have grown tall enough and it is almost time for them to bloom. In order to allow it to develop better, we transplant it into a large pot again. This will facilitate the growth of its roots and provide favorable conditions for future flowering.

2. Fertilization and watering

During its growth process, we must always keep the soil in the pot moist, but not too wet. In addition, the nutrition must keep up. Generally, you can add fertilizer every 10 days or so. Choose liquid nitrogen fertilizer as the main fertilizer. Then when it begins to form flower buds, you should also apply some phosphorus fertilizer appropriately. This will increase its flowering amount. After that, when the flowers are in full bloom, you should reduce the amount of fertilizer appropriately. After the flowers fade, stop applying it.

In addition, before each fertilization, we cannot water it. The soil in the pot should be slightly dry, which will be more conducive to the absorption of fertilizer. When fertilizing, we must not let the fertilizer spill on the leaves to prevent the leaves from being burned. In this way, we can wait for it to bloom next time.

3. Temperature and light

It likes a warm environment very much, so in winter you have to pay attention to the temperature not being too low, generally it should be maintained at 10 degrees, so that it will bloom continuously in the spring of next year. In addition, when raising it, you must also pay attention to ventilation. In summer, the temperature must not exceed 30 degrees, and strong sunlight must not be allowed to shine directly. It must be properly shaded.

4. Timely pruning

In order to keep it blooming, the temperature and light need to be adjusted every time it blooms. In addition, the dead flowers and pedicels must be cut off in time and certain fertilizers must be added so that it can keep blooming.
