How to propagate Chinese aloe

How to propagate Chinese aloe

1. Division

Division is one of its propagation methods, and this method is more flexible in terms of timing because it can be carried out throughout the growth period of the plant.

The specific method is to directly break off its stem base from its mother plant, or peel off the small plant growing from the root, and then plant it in the soil. In addition, there is another way, which is to use a knife to separate its seedlings and mother plants, but we don't need to pull it out. Just let it grow in its original position for half a month, so that it can form its own root system, and then it can be transplanted directly with soil.

Another way is to peel it off and let it dry in a well-ventilated place for a few days, and then transplant it after the wound has healed well. You need to rehydrate afterwards.

After this operation, we need to strengthen its management, because it needs to slow down the growth, so there are several things we need to do, such as providing it with shade.

2. Cuttings

Another way is cuttings. This method mainly utilizes one of its characteristics, that is, its rootless main stem and the lower end of its side branches will produce adventitious roots. We just need to separate them, and then new roots can be formed.

What we need to pay attention to is the environment for cuttings. Generally, the temperature should be kept between 25 and 28 degrees. The temperature of the soil is different. It should be at least two degrees higher than the air temperature, so that the roots will grow faster. If the temperature is below 18 degrees Celsius, root growth will be greatly affected. At the same time, we cannot let the soil be too wet, but a relatively high air humidity is acceptable, generally between eighty and ninety.

The specific method is to cut off the healthy leaves that grow well during the growing season, disinfect them and dry them for a few days, and then insert them into new flower soil after the wounds become dry. Don't insert it too deep, just prevent it from falling over. We need to shade it right after the cuttings are taken, and we need to wait until its roots grow more before exposing it to the sun.
