How to water agave

How to water agave

1. The plant's water requirements

Let's first understand how much water it needs so that we can better understand what to do. For this plant, it prefers a relatively dry environment. However, this is just a general description. During the period of rapid growth, water is still indispensable. But at all times, remember not to overdose.

2. Principles to be followed

First of all, the principle is “better dry than wet”. This means that when we are not sure how much water to water, we should water less. It is relatively drought-tolerant, so not watering it in the short term won’t be a big problem. Moreover, it is extremely afraid of waterlogging. Once there is too much water, the roots will rot. Another principle is to water thoroughly, but there should not be any accumulation of water.

3. Watering at specific times

(1) Let’s first talk about the season when it grows vigorously. At this time, the demand will be relatively high, so the amount of watering should be correspondingly larger. However, in general the frequency is not particularly high, usually once every two weeks is enough. However, in the summer, the frequency is slightly higher, about once every ten days.

(2) Next comes the period of slow growth, which is from the end of autumn to the entire winter. During this period, the plant will hardly grow, so the amount of water should be less and the frequency should be reduced.

4. Notes

(1) In addition to adjusting watering according to the season, you also have to adjust it according to the weather. On sunny days, you can water more; if it is cloudy, it is not suitable to water more.

(2) In addition, if it is outdoors when it rains, make sure to drain the water.
