How to grow asparagus fern well

How to grow asparagus fern well

1. Lighting

Asparagus fern prefers a cool environment and grows mainly in diffuse light. In summer, it is necessary to provide appropriate shade for it because it is afraid of strong light, so it is best placed in a well-ventilated and semi-shaded environment. Otherwise, the leaves will turn yellow or even fall off, greatly affecting its appearance. In addition, in winter, asparagus fern is extremely afraid of cold, so at the end of autumn, it should be moved indoors as soon as possible, and the room temperature should be controlled at around 5 degrees. It must not be lower than this temperature, otherwise frost damage will occur.

2. Watering

Watering has a great impact on whether asparagus fern can be grown well. First of all, make sure that the soil in the pot is of appropriate dryness and wetness. It should not be too dry or too wet for a long time, otherwise the leaves will turn yellow, the roots will rot, and finally the leaves will fall off. Therefore, when the weather is very dry, spray water on the leaves in time. Then when watering, you must water thoroughly at one time, and ensure that the soil is dry and wet in a suitable manner, and no excess water should remain in the pot. In winter, you can reduce the frequency of watering and just clean the branches and leaves regularly to keep the plant fresh and green.

3. Fertilizer

In order to prevent it from growing too tall, do not use too concentrated fertilizer or apply fertilizer too many times. Usually once every 10 days or so is sufficient. When the temperatures are high in summer and low in winter, stop fertilizing to prevent root rot.

4. Soil

It likes loose, well-drained soil, so soil containing garden soil and leaf mold is often used. Its roots are fleshy, it breathes very strongly, and it needs a large amount of oxygen, so the soil in the pot must be loose and must not be compacted.

5. Repotting

The last key to growing it well is to change the pot in time, which should be done once every two years, to ensure that the plant and the pot are of the right size. When changing the pot, you must also replace the old soil and add loose soil into it. With careful care, you can make it grow better.
