How to raise Clerodendrum thomsoniae

How to raise Clerodendrum thomsoniae

1. Breeding environment

(1) Soil: The specific requirements are loose, well-drained, fertile sandy soil. You can mix mulch, garden soil and sand in the ratio of two to one to one. You can also add some bone meal as a base fertilizer.

(2) Watering: During the growing period, it is advisable to keep the soil moist. In summer, due to evaporation, the amount of watering needs to be increased. In winter, when the plant is dormant, the amount of watering needs to be reduced.

(3) Light: Insufficient light may cause the plant to grow too tall, so sufficient light is needed to ensure normal growth and flower bud development. However, in summer, it needs to be placed where it is not exposed to direct sunlight. In winter, provide as much light as possible.

(4) Temperature: Generally speaking, it is best to be between 18 and 24 degrees. The temperature during winter should not be lower than eight degrees, otherwise it may cause large-scale leaf drop of the plants.

(5) Fertilization: During the flowering period, the demand is high. Use low-concentration cake fertilizer water once every one to ten days, for three or four times in a row. During the breeding process, if the leaves are found to be turning yellow, ferrous sulfate can be used as a topdressing fertilizer to make the leaves turn green.

2. Prevent and control pests and diseases

The disease is mainly caused by fungi. First of all, the diseased branches and leaves need to be removed, and then ventilation should be increased and humidity should be reduced to control the disease. If the situation is serious, spray pesticides. The main insect pests are scale insects, whiteflies, etc., which can be sprayed with 40% concentration of omethoate solution.
