What to do if Clivia is pinched by an arrow

What to do if Clivia is pinched by an arrow

1. Adjust the temperature

Reason: Clivia grows best at around 20℃. If the temperature is too low, below 15℃, some of its physiological activities cannot proceed normally, which will cause many problems, such as arrow pinching.

Solution: Move the Clivia to an environment of 18-20℃ for maintenance. During this period, you can use a rope to tie the leaves on both sides of it together and place it in a dark place. This will make it easier for its flower arrows to emerge.

2. Increase fertilization

Reason: Clivia needs certain nutrients to grow arrows. If you don’t fertilize it in time and give it more nutrients, it will be difficult to absorb enough nutrients and the arrows will be stuck.

Solution: Apply fertilizer to it in time, preferably fertilizer containing phosphorus and potassium. The fertilizer needs to be diluted before application to avoid its concentration being too high and damaging the flowers. Do not add too much fertilizer at one time, apply it thinly and frequently.

3. Root pruning and replanting

Reason: The roots of the Clivia are damaged and cannot absorb nutrients from the soil normally. The plant is lacking in nutrients and naturally cannot produce arrows normally.

Solution: Take the entire Clivia out of the soil, then find its damaged roots, cut them off with a sterilized knife, and then replant it with new soil.

4. Increase watering

Reason: Clivia needs to consume a lot of water when it is growing arrows. If there is not enough water supply, it will not be able to grow arrows normally.

Solution: Water it in time, and then keep the soil moist and do not let it dry out. It is important to water in small amounts and multiple times. Do not water too much at one time to avoid water accumulation in the soil and damage the plant roots.
