1. Leaf DifferenceThe leaves of summer solstice grass are round in outline and 1.5 to 2 cm long. The tip of the leaves is rounded, the base is heart-shaped, and there are three deep cracks. The lobes have round teeth. Sometimes the leaves are oval, 3 shallowly or deeply cracked, and the lobes are toothless or have sparse round teeth. Both sides of the leaves are green and covered with soft hairs. The leaves at the bottom of the stem of Motherwort are ovate in outline, with a broad cuneate base, palmately 3-lobed, and the lobes are oblong rhombus or ovate, usually 2.5 to 6 cm long and 1.5 to 4 cm wide, green above and light green below. 2. Flower DifferencesThe summer solstice grass has a whorl of umbels, about 1 cm in diameter, and a white corolla with a faint pink tint. The inflorescence of Motherwort is an axillary cyme, generally with 8 to 15 flowers, which are spherical in shape and 2 to 2.5 cm in diameter. The flowers form long spike inflorescences. |
