How to grow Kalanchoe in water

How to grow Kalanchoe in water

1. Correct hydroponic method

Cuttings are directly planted in water, allowing the branches to take root in the water and then cultivated hydroponically. Hydroponics is recommended for families, as it is more conducive to its normal application in the hydroponic environment. The second method may cause changes when transferring from soil to water. Changes in conditions may cause problems such as root rot, resulting in the failure of hydroponics.

Branch cuttings: Select branches with 3-4 pairs of leaves, cut them and place them in a cool place to dry for 2-3 days, then insert them into water. In a suitable environment, you can see root tips emerging in about a week, completing the rooting process.

2. Precautions

1. Water quality: The ideal water source is purified water and boiled water. It is not recommended to use tap water directly. Other substances in the water will have an impact on the plants.

2. Container: The hydroponic container should be of appropriate size and the mouth should be of a certain size so that there is enough air in the nutrient solution to meet the growth needs of the root system. Most containers are transparent, and moss will appear if they are exposed to light for a long time. You can cover the container appropriately or change the water to control its occurrence.

3. Nutrient solution: When changing the water, do not completely update the nutrient solution in the container. Just pump out 1/3 to 1/5 of the old water from the bottom and fill it with new water. If all the water is renewed, the hydroponic environment will change drastically, which will cause damage to the root system.

4. Pruning: While hydroponically cultivating, proper pruning is required to make the plant shape compact.

4. Fertilizer: When growing hydroponically, you can add some slow-release fertilizer or special nutrient solution for hydroponics to meet its fertilizer needs.
