How to grow orchids indoors in summer

How to grow orchids indoors in summer

1. Water

Water evaporates quickly in summer, so it needs sufficient water. You can water it thoroughly in the morning to keep the soil moist. After noon, if the soil becomes dry, you can water it again. Don't water too much, just wet the surface of the potting soil.

2. Ventilation

The indoor temperature will be relatively high in summer, so you should open windows for ventilation appropriately. A ventilated growing environment is not only conducive to plant growth, but also reduces the incidence of diseases and pests.

3. Temperature

When cared for indoors, it should be given a growing environment of 25-30℃, and the temperature should not be too high. If the indoor temperature is high, cooling measures need to be taken and indoor air circulation should be ensured.

4. Fertilization

The peak growth season for orchids is in summer, so topdressing should be done in a timely manner, with thin fertilizers applied frequently, and the amount of fertilizer should not be too large. It is best to apply fertilizer at night and water it promptly the next day. Do not apply too concentrated fertilizer as it can easily burn the roots.

5. Prevention and control of pests and diseases

Diseases and insect pests are prone to occur during the high temperatures in summer. We must do a good job of prevention in normal times, keep the breeding environment clean, and disinfect the sea regularly. Once pests and diseases are discovered, they need to be sprayed with pesticides in time and the diseased branches and leaves need to be pruned off, otherwise secondary infection will occur.
