Radish growth environment conditions and characteristics

Radish Growth Environmental Conditions and Requirements

Radish is native to the warm coasts of Eurasia and has a very long history of cultivation in my country. It prefers a warm and humid growing environment and is a semi-cold-resistant vegetable that can be grown all year round in areas with suitable climates.

Radish growth temperature

The optimum growth temperature for radish is 20-25℃. The plant is also very cold-resistant and can withstand temperatures as low as -3℃. However, the fleshy roots of the plant are afraid of freezing and will be frostbitten when the temperature drops below 1℃.

Radish growth humidity

The growth of radish requires a certain humidity, the soil humidity should be between 65%-80%, and the air humidity should be between 80%-90%, but the soil moisture should not be too much.

Radish growing soil

Radishes prefer loose, breathable soil with good water and fertilizer retention. The pH value of the soil should be between 5.3-7. If planted in heavy clay soil, it will affect the taste of the vegetables.

Radish growth cycle and process

The growth of radish generally goes through two stages: the vegetative growth period and the reproductive growth period. Generally, the first year after planting is the vegetative growth period, during which fleshy roots will form, and the second year is the reproductive growth period, during which the plant will sprout, bloom, and set seeds.
