How to grow violets at home

How to grow violets at home

1. Loose soil

It likes loose, fertile, slightly acidic soil, such as a mixture of humus, garden soil and river sand.

2. Moderate light

It likes semi-shaded places. If the sunlight is too strong, the leaves will turn yellow, but the light cannot be too dark, otherwise it will only grow leaves and very few flowers. When raising it at home, we can give it diffuse light throughout the day, so that it can grow well.

3. Keep the soil moist

It likes a slightly moist environment, but don't water it too much. Especially in winter when the temperature is low, just keep the humidity at around 40%; in summer, you need to water it more to keep the humidity at around 70%, and then in autumn just water it appropriately.

4. Apply fertilizer in small amounts

During the growing season, we can apply an appropriate amount of decomposed liquid fertilizer and chemical fertilizer to it, but not too much nitrogen fertilizer, otherwise there will be more leaves than flowers. Then after the buds appear, you need to add an appropriate amount of fertilizer to make the flowers more colorful.

5. Suitable temperature

It likes moist and cool places. The best temperature is generally between 18 and 24 degrees. The highest cannot exceed 27 degrees and the lowest cannot be lower than 12 degrees. Therefore, in summer and winter, it is necessary to give it appropriate shade and warmth.

6. Simple pruning

During its growth process, sometimes because we water too much or there is insufficient light, the branches will grow too long, so at this time we need to do a simple pruning. When pruning, just remove the rotten leaves and small buds on the top, leaving the side branches and leaves.
