How to water geraniums

How to water geraniums

1. How often do you need to water?

Geranium has fleshy stems and can withstand dry climates, but it does not like humid environments, so water cannot accumulate in the flowerpot. If the soil in the pot appears dry, the flowers need to be watered. When choosing a planting pot, you need to choose a small pot so that it is easier to control the amount of watering.

2. The time and method of watering flowers are different in different seasons

Spring and autumn are the peak seasons for geranium growth, so it requires a lot of water. Basically, when the soil surface in the pot becomes dry at a depth of 2 cm, it needs to be watered. Soil that is too dry will damage the roots and make it impossible to absorb enough nutrients for the plant to grow. Watering must be completed before the sun comes out in the morning.

Midsummer and severe winter are its semi-dormant periods, and the amount of water required is small. The amount of water given each time is about one-fourth of the potting soil, and it is best to water along the edge of the pot. The time to water flowers is different in different seasons. In midsummer, it is best to water the flowers in the early morning and evening, while in winter, the most suitable time to water the flowers is at noon.

3. Notes

If you water geraniums too much, it will cause root rot. If you water them too little, they will not have enough nutrients, which will cause the plants to be unable to grow normally or even die. Therefore, it is best to water them in a dry environment rather than too wet one.
