How to propagate magnolia by cuttings

How to propagate magnolia by cuttings

1. How to take cuttings

The time for magnolia cuttings is generally chosen to be from May to June. Choose healthy branches as cuttings. The cuttings can be 15 cm long. Keep 2 leaves on the upper end of the branch and cut off 1/3 of the leaf surface of each leaf. After cutting the branches, dip the base of the cuttings with rooting powder to promote rooting and increase the survival rate. You can also dip the incision with wood ash to prevent rot, and then insert the cuttings into the soil for maintenance.

2. Precautions

The cuttings should be carried out in an environment of 20 to 25 degrees Celsius, which will allow the rooting speed to be fastest. After cuttings, the soil should be kept moist, but not too moist, otherwise it will easily cause the roots of the cuttings to rot. Pay attention to ventilation within a certain period of time.
